Dates in R plot

Hi all,

I am trying to make a simple R plot with dates on one axis and some continuous value (time on plant in minutes) on the other. However, the dates are showing as a range from 0e+00 to 4e+05 and I cannot figure out why or how this happens. The true range is 01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019.

With normal power bi visuals the dates show just fine.

My data source is an excel file with a date column, formatted as Date dd/MM/yyyy.

I've tried things like as.Date and as.POSIXct, but these result in error messages. Besides, I assume that since it is already formatted as date this will not tackle the problem anyway.

The code is simply this:

plot(dataset$date,dataset$"Time on plant")

Hi @Anonymous ,

I am not claer about your data, youcould try to convert date column to date type to see whether it will show correct date format in model, then you could try to use below to see whether it work or not.

dm$newday = as.Date(dm$Date, "%m/%d/%Y")
plot(dm$newday, dm$Visits)

You could refer to plotting-time-series-with-date-labels-on-x-axis  for details.

Zoe Zhi
