Prior to the previous update of Power BI, users did not have access to the datasets in the cloud. Now, I am not sure how the security changed on the current datasets in the cloud.....need assistance!
@cwilliams Not sure what your question is but are you saying users who shared dashboard with did not had access to dataset before which they have now ? Please clarify on your question.
That is correct. Users that shared dashboards and reports did not share the datasets....but since last update, these users now have access to the datasets.
Microsoft assured me that access to the datasets will not compromise the security of the databases/tables/queries.
But, what was confusing was that Microsoft stated that users who were part of a content package always had access to the datasets. I have to respectfully disagree. I followed up with a few of my colleageus to confirm that I was remembering correctly.
Prior to September's update, end users without administrative rights, did NOT have access to the datasets.
