Hi, Everybody!
I am running Power BI Desktop. I am trying to connect to a Sybase database. In the Get Data dialog box, I select Database followed by Sybase database and click the Connect button. Next, in the Sybase database dialog box, I specify the Server and Database and click the OK button. The Navigator dialog box lists all the target database tables. When I check any table, I get the following error message...
DataSource.Error: Sybase SQL Anywhere: Run time SQL error -- ???
Details:
DataSourceKind=Sybase
DataSourcePath=<server>;<database>
Message=Run time SQL error -- ???
ErrorCode=-2147467259
Any help regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Hi I'm also experiencing difficulties connecting to SQL Anywhere in my case it's an old version 10, were you lucky? what was your problem? How did you solve it? Thank you
Hi, Caiyun...
Thank-you for getting back to me.
The error only occurs when I attempt to load the data. I am not querying any data per se... Just loading the table. I suppose that is an implicit SELECT * FROM table.
I will try your suggestion and advise you of my findings.
Truly grateful!
Hi @juliobello
Can you connect data source but fail to load data? If you are connecting the data base by Sybase database in Desktop, there are some prerequisites for SAP Sybase SQL Anywhere. "This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used. "If you have configured ODBC for Sybase, you can use ODBC connector in Desktop to connect data source. And you need make sure the server name and database name correct.
If just fail to load data, you can check whether you are querying large amount of data and try to load a table with less data to check whether it can load data successfully.
Best Regards
Caiyun Zheng

Hi, Caiyun ...
I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It's been very hectic here.
I tried loading a small table. It had only 308 records and no more than 71 characters total among all columns. It also failed.
What do you suggest I do next?
Truly grateful,
Julio A. Bello
