DataFormat.Error from Excel

Dear Community,

I am completely new to Power BI and try my very first steps for data uploading and transformation ...

I have an Excel file with containing a data in the format "01.01.2017" so in this case 1st of January 2017. When I upload the data I get a Data.Format.Error giving me this data as a number like 42736. I think it just needs to be transfered as a data but I just do not find out how to do it.

I think it is a quite easy task, so thanks for helping me out 🙂

Dateformatcheck.PNGHi,

Prior importing the file check the field format if its in number or text or  in power query try to edit the format to date.

Also make sure in your power bi destop the above option is selected .

Do let me know if this helped you

Regards,

Husna

Hi @Imperium1 ,

Just change the data type as Date, you can find the data type under Modeling Tab.

Before change:

After Change:
