HI All,
Ive built a power bi report, the data is placed on MS Teams channel in specific folder in a form of xlsx with 2 sheets.
Last 2 months there was no problem refreshing it, but today I can see this type of error when I am trying to refresh it from workspace:
Processing error: Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.
Cluster URI: WABI-NORTH-EUROPE-D-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net
Activity ID: e6fe1497-d338-4f29-a49a-8af6ed7979b7
Or this one External table is not in the expected format when I am trying to refresh the dashboard that is located on my local files, but still linked to this teams channel - google says fix is to change xls to xlsx format, but this hasnt changed, I tried also creating new xlsx file and copy the data but no luck, and same issues.
Could you please help me and tell how to fix it?
Thank you.

HI @Anonymous ,
The error complains about some data format error.
Can you try one thing:

Hi @Anonymous ,
when you modify file extension from .xls to .xlsx, what error do you get?
This should ideally fix this issue.
Thanks,
Pragati
Hi @Pragati11
I didnt had to change it, as it was xlsx from the beggining. As you can see this was already an xlsx
Hi @Anonymous ,
In that case, did any permission change happen on this excel file?
Thanks,
Pragati
Hi @Pragati11
Nothing I am awere of, the excel was just downloaded from the files, user overwrite the data with new one, and upload it again. Unless I can change it somehow? The strange thing is that when I am loading the same file to new/empty powerbi report it loads perfectly
Hi @Anonymous ,
Is it just one file or multiple files?
How are you getting this file in Power BI - using Excel type data-source connection?
Thanks,
Pragati
It is 1 file that is loaded into Shareoint site, in one speciific folder
HI @Anonymous ,
It looks like there is something wrong with your Sharepoint connection as you mentioned above that directly loading excel file to Power BI works.
Can you try editing the sharepoint connection details?
Thanks,
Pragati
Where can I do that or what should I try to edit? Could you please advise? Generally I am poining this specific SP site, and in power query editor I am filtering rows as in this SP site I have one more file so after the source step and 1 filter step it looks like:
HI @Anonymous ,
So in Power Query Editor, look for SOURCE step:
Also, do you have many transformation steps in Power Query editor for this dataset? Can you try checking all steps one by one and see if there is anything that has gone wrong? Basically you should be able to identify if there is any step that has caused this issue.
Thanks,
pragati
Hey, so I went through steps and I found something interesting but no idea how to understand it. Like 1st screen is my source "step", 2nd screen is step before the error, and the last screen show error... but I dont remember this one nor I dont understand it, do you have some idea why this specific step failed?
HI @Anonymous ,
The error complains about some data format error.

Thank you, I had to remove this step and apply it again... and for some reason it worked, although file structure and data types didnt change - very strange.
