Hi @mapowerbi,

We sincerely appreciate your inquiry raised through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, you are able to view updated data in Power Query; however, when attempting to refresh or apply changes in Power BI Desktop, the process fails with a ModelingASOperationException. This error generally occurs not during data retrieval, but when Power BI tries to load the data into its internal model (tabular engine).

Kindly follow the steps listed below, which may help resolve the issue:

  1. In Power Query, please ensure that no steps reference missing or renamed columns. Check for yellow warnings or error icons in the applied steps.
  2. Navigate to File > Options > Current File > Data Load, and uncheck the “Auto Date/Time” option.
  3. Inspect the Model View for broken or circular relationships. Verify that all calculated columns and measures reference valid fields.
  4. Go to File > Options > Global > Data Load, click on Clear Cache, and then restart Power BI.
  5. Save the .pbix file under a new name to reset the internal model metadata.
  6. Under Options > Current File > Data Load, disable the option “Allow data previews to download in the background.”
  7. Try publishing the report to the Power BI Service and perform a refresh there. If it works successfully online, then the issue is specific to your Power BI Desktop environment.

If you find our response helpful, kindly mark it as the accepted solution and provide kudos. This will assist other community members facing similar queries.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you.
