Data limit

Hi Team,

I am new to Power BI. My question is - Can power BI be able to handle 800 to 1000 Millions or records which need to load every day.

1. Power BI Premium supports uploading Power BI Desktop (.pbix) files up to 10GB in size. You can also choose to enable large datasets, where Power BI datasets can store data in a highly compressed in-memory cache to optimize query performance for fast user interaction. With Premium Capacity, you can enable large datasets beyond the default limit using the Large Dataset Storage Format setting. When enabled, the dataset size is limited by the advanced capacity size or the maximum size set by the administrator.

2. If you do not have a Power BI Premium license, you are better off using DirectQuery or Connect Live mode to connect to the data source, as the 1GB limit does not apply to Directquery datasets. Also, in this case, your reporting performance depends heavily on the performance of the underlying data source.

3. If you insist on choosing the import mode, you can follow the guidance in this  article to optimize your data model. However, it is important to understand that there is a 1GB dataset size limit for the import mode.

Hi, Thank you for your response. 800 Million records need to load every day thats the requirement. Its historical data and there is no incremental load allowed. Everyday data is increasing 5 to 7 million. Could you provide some link from where i can go through for Mixed model.

@dearnayan , 800 -1000 Million per day is a big number. You need to check the size of the premium tenant. Also how much is data size?

You might have to use a mixed model.
