    Hi Anonymous,

     

    The data model will pick the new columns up. However for the dashaboard, you should add the new columns to the visual manully and republish the report the service. Then the dashboard will be updated.

Hi Anonymous,

 

Based on my test, adding columns in excel will not disrupt existing dashboards. And you can refresh the datset as normal, also the new columns will be imported to the data model. If any other question, feel free to let me know.

    Hi v-frfei-msft,

     

    Thanks for the reply. So let's say for example, I have an excel work book with x number of columns. Next I make an updated work book with multiple sheets, one of these sheets is almost identical to the original excel work book, although this sheet has more columns and data in it as compared to the original.

     

    Will my data models be able to pick this up and utilize the new workbook with the updated data and as a result I get to keep my dashboards updated with my new data.

     

    If so, how is this done?
