Data Mapping

Is there a way I can use Power BI (Data Mapping) to know similarity of the words being used, for example Human Resources = HR, as shown in the table below.

Names

Abbreviation

Human Resources

HR

Information Technology

IT

Accounting

ACC

Sales and Marketing

SMTG

Finance

FIN

Procurement

PROC

Security

SEC

I would like to know how to map

If the use of the words is consistent you can make a small translation table that looks just like your example. Then you can set up a relationship to your data based on the words and get access to the codes using the relationship.

This is probably an issue that would best be dealt with before you load your data. Add an additional column for the codes and fill it in using excel or sql and then load the data if possible.
