Hi
Being new to Power Bi, I am looking into some of the best pratices and have a few questions on load times and data sizes.
When reading in data, has anyone come across any data size limitations?
Within a reasonable time frame, what are some of the largest datasets users have tried with Power Bi?
Time wise, is there a difference between the web app and desktop?
Is there a log file of sorts (I havn't been able to find one?) to show loading times and the various execution times for each query?
Thanks

Hi @fyrworx
Yes, PowerBI provide trace log files for users to analyse Power BI Desktop execution performance. First you need to collect some diagnostics by enabling tracing on Power BI Desktop, go to: File –> Options –> Diagnostics –> Enable Tracing.
Reference: Power BI Desktop Trace Logs Analyser
Because it is not very easy to read the log file opened in notepad, you can create a Power BI Desktop to process and visualize the trace logs.

Thank you for the replies, will definitely try these out.
1. PBIX file size limit is 1GB and check out here data limits in powerbi.com based on level of subscription.
2. Largest size of dataset I've imported within power bi data model is approx 1-2 GB. Any data size more than that I would prefer to use DirectQuery feature.
3. If you've got schedule refresh setup then in power bi service you can go to settings icon on the top right hand corner -> Settings -> Datasets -> Refresh history
