Hello everyone,
I have an issue where scheduled updates and even manual updates fail due to a data.format error.
The table date is correctly configured as 'date' and I don't know what else to do, I've already tried to transform it into a value, text in everything possible to see if I can update the dashboard alone but I can't.
the table I'm using only has 2 date columns, where one is filled and the other can sometimes be blank, but these blanks I changed to be like 01/01/01 and even taking the null was still wrong, After all, I don't know what is the reason for giving this error.
I'm from Brazil, I put my locale in the power BI Desktop settings, I changed the date to pt-br and it still didn't work
and further down I'm forwarding my table and as the date column is formatted, it only has these two.
Can you help me please?
Hi @Anonymous ,
Did you get the error message in Power BI Service? What data source is your report connected to? If the report can refresh successfully in Power BI Desktop? Could you please provide some sample data with Text format(especially date fields)?
In addition, the following links are the ones which have the similar problem as yours. Hope they can help you resolve the problem.
According to my research, this issue can be caused by multiple reasons, you can have a check:
- Core excel > 30MB
- Excel has password
- Permission issue
- Corrupted model
- Wrong type, error format, value issue, etc.
If you still have a problem, you can try these steps to find if they can be useful:
First, make sure the PBI desktop is the latest version.
Then please delete the data source (File -> Options and Settings -> Data Source Settings) and reconnect to see if it works.
Please make sure all permission and credentials are correct.
DataFormat.Error: File contains corrupted data.
You cannot access password protected files, so that will need to be removed unfortunately.
Best Regards
Hi Yingyinr,
So this message is generated when I try to update powerbi via browser, in powerbi Desktop it updates normally.
My data source is 2 .csv files, 1 xlsx and
1 web scraping.
The examples I can't send you because they are company information, they are confidential, but the dates fields are formatted as date, the only difference is
there are numbers for example 001164 or 001244 these numbers I formatted as text because I put them in numbers cut the 00 and I need them to appear.
I've tried to reconnect the data source, I've tried to even all permissions but still gives error.
What I'm trying to update is only the browser's power bi, because I left the dashboard on a television and I want it to update.
Hi @Anonymous ,
You can provide some fake data, I just want to reproduce your problem to do a trouble shooting to find a solution. Could you please tell me which field the values 001164 or 001244 are in? Are they in the same field as the date format values? Is it possible to just provide dummy data for the field with these numbers and the date format values? Thank you.
Best Regards
Hi YingYinr,
Next I'm sharing the model I'm using and the two data sources I have, the other is web scrapping.
The fields with the values are in the column called 'called' and not in the same date column.
thanks for the help
