Dashboard Tiles Not Refreshing in Embedded UI — DirectQuery / Embed API
Environment: Power BI Embedded, DirectQuery, Power BI Dashboard
Setup: Our reports are built on DirectQuery with live data connections. Visuals from these reports are pinned to a Power BI dashboard. Within Power BI Service, the dashboard tiles refresh as expected when new data arrives.
Issue: We are embedding the dashboard tiles into our internal UI using the Power BI REST API. We retrieve the reportId, tileId, and embed URL via Insomnia, then render the tiles within our application. However, unlike the behavior observed in Power BI Service, the embedded tiles do not reflect updated data — they appear to display a static snapshot.
Question: What could cause embedded dashboard tiles to not reflect live data updates when embedded via the REST API, despite the same tiles updating correctly within Power BI Service? Are there specific embed token configurations, API parameters, or tile-specific embed settings that need to be addressed to support live data refresh in an embedded context?
Any guidance on the correct approach for embedding DirectQuery-backed dashboard tiles with live refresh would be greatly appreciated.

@JulieKucher I think you need to turn on Automatic Page Refresh in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Thank you for the reply! I will try. Have you done it before in your practice?
The tricky part is why the tile is getting refreshed in the power BI service, but not in the UI?
Can the URL taken from Insomnia be a reason?
Hi @JulieKucher,
As you mentioned that you would try the suggestion, have you had a chance to test the @parry2k suggestion?
Thank you.
