Daily reoccurring data source issues

Hello,

This is now the second day in a row that this has happened. Basically every day when I come in the morning and startup Power Bi it can't find the datasets I was just connected to. Yesterday I rebooted my computer and it started working again. Today no such luck. I performed all the usual procedures (logging in and out, restarting, checking privledges etc.) and everything seems to be working/the same as it has been for over a month.

What's weird is that if I open a certain report, the data still flows in correctly and I am able to see all my normal fields. Any other report doesn't open due to the data source error.

BTW I am using a "Power Platform Power Bi Dataset" as a live connection.

This is a new issue as I have not had problems like this since this week.

The solution for anybody else watching this thread ended up being the trial account. As soon as I switched from the trial to a full pro account, all the datasets matriculated and everything is working (and has been working). I think that this is a bug in the licensing system.

@Anonymous IT happened to me also and here is why it happened to me.

I have two different login acount I use, I logged in power bi desktop say user1@mycompany.com and it connected to the power bi dataset on this company's tenant. all fine.

now i opened another report, and logged in as a different user for different tenant, let's user1@yourcompany.com. so far so good, i save the report and all good

now if I go back to report 1 , it will complain that power bi dataset no found and there is dialog box which allows you to change the credentials, so i will go to user1@mycompany.com and will see my dataset and would be good to go. hope this helps.

Would appreciate Kudos 🙂 if my solution helped.

Hello @v-alq-msft @parry2k ,

I only have one account and there is no error message. Basically whenever I try to get data from the powerbi dataset it either tries to load indefinitely, or says that the dataset I've been using for the past couple months is not there. I'm still thinking this has something to do with my "trial account" status as Microsoft support over the phone confirmed that I wasn't an admin on their side (which I had been up until that day, and none of my coworkers or managers have changed any of the security/role settings.)

Hi, @Anonymous

I wonder what the error message is and which Power BI Desktop version you are using.

Best Regards

Allan
