Customer Voice - Common Data Service Entities InActive

Using PowerBI Desktop, I have connected to survey data from CustomerVoice stored within the Common Data Service. I have spent a couple of days trying  to work out how to create the correct active active relationships within PowerBI desktoplyse the survey data. 

As a user I want to be able to look at the survey response to a given question by a given Contact. For example, Contact name Joe Bloggs completed Survey X. For Question Y within Survey X he responded with the answer "__". 

Based on my understadning, to get at that information there needs to be active relationships between the msfp_question and msfp_questionresponses entitites. There also needs to be active relationships between msfp_survey and msfp_surveyresponses entitites. 

However, when I try to make those relationships active I get the error message "You can't create a direct active relationship between msfp_questionresponse and msfp_question because that woudl create ambiquity between tables msfp_question and msfp_surveyresponse". 

I followed the tutorial, and I noted that in the image and vode walk through the tutor also has inactive relationships for the same tables, but this is not addressed. I would expect what I am tryign to do is a simple task when you know how - but I have been going aorund in circles for ages.

Cross filtering both directions works well for a star schema as below.

If you have a table pattern like this, with loops, then cross filtering can create an ambiguous set of relationships. For instance, if you sum up a field from TableX and then choose to filter by a field on TableY, then it’s not clear how the filter should travel, through the top table or the bottom table.
