Custom order for column names in field pane

Hello experts

Can we arrange the fields in custom order or the way the columns are in database in power BI report view? By default it is alphabetical. Whatever I read, looks like not possible. Checking with experts before I talk to the user saying not possible.
Another question, is there any way to group tables in report view. Did in query editor but not reflecting in model. Requirement is group multiple tables into one folder. I did that only for fields from same table.
Any help?

there is an option to choose sort column as long as both are at the same granularity

Also if I do that, custom sort order for columns is still not coming into fields pane.

A table has >100 columns and 100k rows. I tried to extract column names And put in a table, join both by indexes. Then specify sort order, working in visual but not in field pane. I am building an ad-hoc report so needed to show order in field pane. So not working for me
