Custom formatting date columns for visuals (still keeping the datatype to date)

Hello,

I have a date column which is recognised as "date type" by PowerBI. This column works as expected when put on visuals. However, I want to format the appearance of this date to "ddd dd/mm/yyyy" for visuals.

If I convert the column to the above format, it is not recognised as 'date' type anymore, therefore, visuals show the dates as "categorical values" rather than continous date values.

Is there a way to custom format a date column while preserving its data type?

What is DDD here.

In case all dates are in dd/mm/yyyy format refer

Hi @amitchandak

I want to show dates as "Wed 12/03/2018" . Using the FORMAT() function is not helpful because it converts date column to "text", therefore, visuals then don't know that they are working with dates anymore.
