Hello,
I have a well location that consists of numbers and text and I want to add slashes and dashes in between certain numbers, is there a way I can do this in Power Bi? I know it can be done in Excel as custom formatting but I'm struggling to custom format this as the column shows as a text data column so I can't use the custom button as its greyed out for me.

you may have to create a custom transformation steps in power query to convert the original column values to the desired format. Out of the box custom format like in excel is not available in power bi afaik.
If the format is consistent and you can put a logic into it, you can probably transform it in power query, for example... insert a '/' at position 3 and a '-' in position 5.

Thanks for the response, can you elaborate a little more? I don't know how to do custom transformation steps in power query.
