I am creating an interactive map from Excel data, but I'm stuck. I am trying to create a map similar to this:
http://projects.pppcouncil.ca/ccppp/src/public/search-project
In the Excel data, there's column titles such as "Project name", "US State", "Province", "Project description".
I need to import the data under those columns into the map, however the scale should only be focused on North America (mainly Canada & US).
I have tried using a filled map in PowerBI, which works to an extent, but I'm not sure how to get the legend on my data.
I appreciate any help!
Hi @powerbi_user,
Current map visuals not support to display the plot as block and calculate the subtotal.
In my opinion, I'd like to suggest you to use filled map or shape map to instead.(they not support show data label)
In addition, you can also post this requirement to ideas forum.

Hello @Anonymous,
I am currently using the fill map, however I have some problems with it:
1) It imports the location data correctly, but if I have a project name and description in a state, how do I get a popup that will show the user on the map?
For example: A user is looking at the map and scrolls over "California" in the USA. I need a popup to display the project name and details for the projects in that state.
2) Is there anyway to create a search function for the user? So the user can search by state, project name, country, etc.?
3) Is there a way to have a fixed scale so the user can only scroll and zoom into USA and Canada?
Hi @powerbi_user,
>>1) It imports the location data correctly, but if I have a project name and description in a state, how do I get a popup that will show the user on the map?
Fill map not support data label, so you can't setting to show up labels on the map.

Power bi not contains the features which third-party map control support, you can share them to ideas forum.

Hi @Anonymous,
Is there any services that integrate with PowerBI that will allow me to get the functionality I need?
