Creating a report with better drilldown ability
Hi.
Looking at the forum it is clear, that there is a lack of good drilldown feature for now. But, maybe is there a workaround/life hack ? For example, is it possible to create a raport with (let's say we have typical product sale analysis):
- First page with some overview data (e.g. bar chart with product categories)
- Second page with tabular data with details for categories
- Bar chart from first page connected to the second page's visualise so, that click on one category bar filters as well the char, as the details on the secon page
?
If not - how can I create a report with such a drilldown possibility ?
Of course idealy would be to have the same working after publishing to web.
Best regards,
Ryszard.
hi rylach
In terms of drilldown what I would suggest is to create your bar chart and have your existing drill down columns underneath it in the Axis. (Drill Down)
Then below this I would create my table with the relevant information.
Now when a user clicks on the bar chart, if the drill down is not enabled, this will filter the data in the table.
If the drill down IS enabled they can then drill down into the data for what they are looking for. And once they get to the drill down level that they want, they can then stop the drill down. And now click on the visual, which will then again filter the data in the table.

If you can tolerate scrolling you could make the 1st page longer and have all your elements on 1 page rather than spread across pages. That way you can take adavantage of the current behaviour of the cross filtering.
