Creating a new measure - basic calculation

Hello!

I am new to Power BI and woudl like to create a measure on two of my columns to create a percetage.

I am working with two columns on Pass attempted vs Passes Completed. from my understanding this would be very simple, I choose the divide expression and then point the expression in the direction of the columns I'd like to calculate. I am receiving the error attached in the second picture and am unsure of what is driving this. Can someone assist? The entire column is formatted as whole numbers and only contain numbers.

I appreciate the help!

Because you are doing a Measure you need to aggregate the Values - just add SUM

Percentage = DIVIDE ( (SUM(column)), (SUM(other)), 0)

Hi Sean - you are a LIFE SAVER!

and you are right in order to create the accurate measure I need to divide completed by attempted.

Can you elaborate a little more on the purpose of addind the SUM in front of the column name? I am unfamiliar with this function. Maybe some alternate...(looking for the name of what to call SUM)...versions of those? Like what would the difference be between SUM and COUNT in that same formula?

Again - Thank you so much! You just unlocked Measures for me.

@rkilwine shouldn't you divide completions by attemps?
