Hello,
I’m connecting to Tabular Model with Power BI, and need to create a new column and add it to one of the fact tables already connected in the Tabular model.
In the fact table I have a measure called ”Age”, and I want to create a new column called “Age Category”, which is a function of “Age”, and will have the following values: 0-18, 18-25, 25-45, 45-65, 65+
When I connect to the Tabular Model with Power BI, I see that the “new column” icon is grayed out so I can’t seem to use it… The new measure option is enabled, but I don’t think it fits in this case…
Any advice anyone?
Thank you

If you aren't importing, then you will need to create a measure.
Hi @Yael,
I think you have connect to live mode tabular datasource, right?
If this is a case, current power bi only allow create measure(live mode). I think you can change the mode to import or share this requirement to ideas forum.

Thank you @v-shex-msft.
What do you mean by "change the mode to import"? Instead of connect live mode to tabular?
Thank you!
Hi @Yael,
You can rebuild a report with import mode. For this mode, you can use all of the edit options.

Thank you.
I'm not sure that a measure fits in this case, since I need to add a description column, and not a numeric one.
Can I use measures in the filter? or use them as a legend in a visual?
Thank you!
