Create a Dynamic Donut/Pie Chart based on a measure

Hi there,

I'm having some trouble with a really frustrating pie chart problem. I'm trying to make my pie chart responsive to date slicers (as well as other filters).

I have a meause that determine the level of the severity of a disease outbreak which is resonive to slicers, I want to use this measure in the pie chart to tell me what percentage of locations fall under these categories. However only columns can be used as a field for piecharts/donut charts so I need to create a calculated column to produce the visual. This caclulated field is only updated on a data refresh and cannot be responsive to slicers.

Is there anyway I can make the donut chart responsive to my measure calculation?

Hi

As tested with the pie/donut chart, I can use a measure in the Values Field but not in Legend Field, and the visual can change with the date slicer.

What’s your desktop version? I test with version: 2.58.5103.501 64-bit (May 2018)

What’s about your data structure? Does the date column added to a slicer exist in the same table with columns added to the pie chart?

could you please show some screenshots or dataset example?

Best Regards

I think maybe I'm misunderstanding you - here I'm using measures as the fields for a pie chart, so...?

I was not quite specific enough.

Specifically I have a column which categorises sites into 4 categories which is the legend and then I have a row count as the values for the pie chart.

The category that each site falls into can change over time, yet as I have a calculated colummn this calculation is not triggered by the date slicer

The reason I want to have the categories in a column is so I can use the pie chart as  a slicer itself.

This is the column I have as the legend in my donut chart. The category that each site falls into changes over time, However it is a calculated column so it will not be updatyed when the date slicer is changedThis is the column I have as the legend in my donut chart. I really appreciate any help that you could offer

Hi @Spatch990

I am afraid maybe a pbix is better for me to analysis because I can't reproduce your produce your problem.
