Create Web URL from File Explorer Path

Hi,

I am working on one project where need to create Web URL for File explorer path from network shared drive.

File Explorer path like:

//server01/projects/subprojects/report/reportname.doc

I would like to create web URL so from Power Service user can click ok this link and download the document.

NOTE: This is word document.

Solution I Tried:

1) Copy Pasted link on Text link in Power BI.

    Link: File://\\server01/projects/subprojects/report/reportname.doc

    Link: File://server01/projects/subprojects/report/reportname.doc

2) Copy Pasted link and created Custom columns with Data type of Web URL.

    Link: File://\\server01/projects/subprojects/report/reportname.doc

    Link: File://server01/projects/subprojects/report/reportname.doc

This solution applied in TABLIX format but not working.

Both ways I got same error "Access to the file was denied".

However, I do have an access to open this file from network shared drive.

Any suggestion would welcome!

Thanks

Hi @damit23183 ,

The local file URL is not equivalent to the web URL.

You may try converting local path ( file:// .......) to url absolute Path  ( http: // ....).

Best Regards,

Jay
