Hi!
I have an issue regarding my numbers updating in Desktop but not when published to Service.
One of my data sources that I have used to create the report in Desktop are saved locally on my computer (this is an Excel file). So, I am the only one who can refresh and see the updated numbers in my Power BI desktop.
Do you have any suggestions on how can I make the numbers update, refresh, and correlate from my Desktop to the published report? Can I somehow make the locally saved data file "public" or accessible in a way that everything refreshes?
Hope you can help!

Hi @Anonymous
In additional to amitchandak, if you want to use import mode and do not want to share your gateway with others, you can try person mode on premise gateway. If you want to use direct query , live connections or share your gateway with others, you need to install enterprise on premise gateway.
Your data source is excel, I think you will use import mode to build your report.
After you publish your report to service, you need to set schedule refresh for your report.
For more details: Configure scheduled refresh
To keep your gateway working ,you need to keep your computer turning on. Or your schedule refresh will show failure.
If you don't want to use gateway, you can try to upload your data source on your Onedrive for Business(Cloud).
For more details : Use OneDrive for Business links in Power BI Desktop
Then build a report by data source on Onedrive for Business.
You don't need a gateway to schedule refresh this report.

@Anonymous , Not very clear. You need to install on premise gateway and schedule refresh of refresh dataset in power bi service.

Hi again and thank you,
Is establishing a gateway the only solution to this issue? If I do, what implications does it have for my computer? Would I always have to have it turned on and such?
