Converting Quarter & Year to Date

Hi all,

I have a quarter & year column in my date table and am getting an error message when i try to convert it to a date, i have checked in the query editor and quarter & year is marked as a date field.

Just wondering if i am missing something obvious?

you have already in your date table this column in whole number format that can help you to sort the column [Quarter & Year] in your visual.

I don´t understand why you need to convert the [Quarter & Year] column from text to date. Normally in the date table only the column [Date] must be in date format.

Are you sure that the [Quarter & Year] column in Power Query is in date format? Do you have a screenshot of it?

the reason i wanted to convert was so that i could sort by it, when i put it on my x axis it doesn't sort in the right order, it sorts Q1 2020, Q12021, Q22020 Q22021 and so on. I have tried to change the sort options on the graph but am strugglging
