Containsstring var problem

Hi all, 

I wonder if anyone has used containsstring like this.   It seems that Containsstring only works for a defined string, not a var.  

Anyone knows?   thanks.

 

clnt_count =
var icd = SELECTEDVALUE(client[Diagcd])
return
countrows(filter(client,CONTAINSSTRING(client[Diagcd],icd)))
