Hi all
We have to query 3 different Snowflake databases with the same server name and url but with 3 different sets of username/password.
Until now we've had to run each connection on a separate account or gateway as a dataflow and then combine them after the event, however I just saw this:
https://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/2023/09/17/multiple-connections-to-the-same-data-source-in-the-power-bi...
I've created 3 new connections for these as described here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-create-share-cloud-data-sources
However, I'm not sure how to now connect all 3 to a semantic model. If I make a new report in desktop and get data from Snowflake connection 1, I can then publish it and change the source in the "Gateway and Cloud Connections" panel for that semantic model to be my newly created shareable connection. But then when I open the desktop fresh to create a second semantic model to link the second shareable connection to, it remembers my username/password for Snowflake from the first one, and I can't see a way to change it.
I'd just like to get all 3 sets of data into a single semantic model. Have I mis-read that this is now possible or am I doing something really stupid and missing the bleedin' obvious? Answers on a postcard to....
Thanks - I set up 3 dataflows in the end but at least I can have them all running from the same account now instead of having to have 3 different accounts for ingesting the 3 data streams, which is what we were doing before.
Hi @crispybits77 ,
Shareable Cloud Connections allow you to have multiple connections to the same data source in the Power BI Service, each using different credentials, not means you could get data from multiple connections to the same datasource.
For your demands, please create a new database to store the data that you want to use in Power BI.
