Connect to XMLA endpoints using Power BI desktop

Hi, we're trying to figure out how to connect to datasets using XMLA endpoints vs. "Live Query" in Power BI desktop. We would like to be able to connect to multiple XMLA endpoint datasets, use "Import" and merge the data from the different datasets together. Currently this is impossible using Live Connect - it only allows one dataset at a time, and it doesn't allow import.

If we were using on premise Analysis Services we'd be able to do this...trying to figure out how to do this with PBI datasets in the service.

Thanks!

Scott

@Anonymous ,

Yes, in live connection/direct query mode, you can't merge/modify tables. About adding import mode to XMAL endpoints, I would suggest you to submit your idea here to help power bi improve.

Hi Jimmy, is this really a "new feature request"? In my mind, PBI desktop can connect to on premise tabular databases in import mode. It feels more to me that not being able to do the same with a PBI service XMLA connection is a bug, not a new feature request. What do you think?

I'm still hopefuly someone has found a way to make this work.

Thanks,

Scott
