Hello everyone,
I am facing this strange issue.
I have set up two identical mysql databases one in my laptop and one in my company's local network.
Until today I was able to work on my laptop with the "local" mysql, save the file, transfer the pbix file to my computer at work and change the source to the "work" mysql to continue my work there and vice versa.
Today I tried to do the same but the "Change Source" button is gray. I can still change in each table the source, if I edit the queries but this is time consuming as I have a lot of tables in the file.
any ideas?
thanks
Hi @Anonymous,
I have tested it on my side, I am still able to use the Change Datasource feature with the latest version of Power BI Desktop(2.40.4554.463 64-bit (October 2016)).
Does this issue only happen to the specific pbix file you'r working on? Could you go to check if you could create a new pbix file connecting to one of your mysql databases, then change datasource to another?
Regards
hello @v-ljerr-msft, thanks for the reply.
I have created new files pointing in the sql databases and in both cases I am able to change the source. Still no luck with the original pbix file though. Just an idea, it seems that somehow it is hardcoded connected to the specific database.
Powerbi is reporting the same version number as yours, but in my installation it says January 2016 instead of October 2016 please see screenshot. I have unistalled Powerbi, downloaded and install it again, with no change. Still reports January 2016.
just an update,
I was thinking that maybe because I was singed in the deskotp application the powerbi would think that I was about to publish the report. so it would lock the database. no luck, I just singed out and still the option to change source in the Data Source settings is inactive.
