Conjunction 'OR' not working in Q&A in power bi

Hi all,

We are new to Power bi Q and A. It is working very wierdly for us. We have 3 tables project, cumulative and capacity.

In all 3 we have project code as common and between cumalative and capacity we have cumulative id as common(foreign key from cumulative table to capacity table).

ProjectCumalativeCapacity
Project Code(PK)Cum_ID(PK)Cap_ID(PK)

Project Name

ProjectCode(FK)Cum_ID(FK)
TypeofProjectTotalLengthofPipeProjectCode
TotalValue Dia_Pipe
Rev_Value Dia_Pipe(Inches)

In Q and A, it is giving us weird answer like if we ask in Q and A a question like:

1.how many project codes are there with total value> 300 -> It gives correct answer

2. how many project codes are there with dia_Pipe>20 OR total value> 300

if you give 'OR' it inserts AND and give based on 'AND' condition the result

Can someone please help.

Hi  @nidhi_kalp ,

You can optimize Q&A according to the official Q&A documentation to see the limitations:

Limitations of Power BI Q&A - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Or use the Copilot feature in Power BI to quickly improve the ability of Q&A visual objects to understand user questions.

Enhance Q&A with Copilot for Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

You can also create a Data Analytic Expression (DAX) Calculation column for calculating the multiconditional statement Boolean and use this field instead OR.

Calaulated Column:

Test =
IF(
    OR([dia_Pipe>20] > 20 ,[total value]>300),TRUE(),FALSE())

Q&A:

How many project codes have a Test= true?

Liu Yang
