Good morning.
I have started to experience issues with setting the field for conditional formatting. For rules or field values, Power BI is not letting me select which field to base these on. The field I want to select is a whole number, and worked fine in previous versions.
When I look at conditional formatting I have previously set, the field has now disappeared, although the formatting does still work:
However, I cannot set up new conditional formatting.
Is this a bug, or has something changed in the latest releases?
Thanks 🙂

Hi there @EG-1984
I'm hazarding a guess here: by any chance are there one or more calculation groups in the dataset?
A side effect of adding calculation groups is that the "Discourage Implicit Measures" model option is forcibly set to True. This stops any new implicit measures being used in visuals or conditional formatting settings. Existing implicit measures will continue to work though.
Here's one article describing the issue and what implicit measures are:
https://smootherconsulting.com/learn/power-bi-calculation-groups-and-implicit-measures
The solution (as described in the article) is to create explicit measures with DAX to replace the previous implicit measures, and use these in visuals or conditional formatting settings.
It is possible that the conditional formatting was set up previously, before the first calculation group was created. The existing conditional formatting settings will continue to work but can't be changed without switching to explicit measures.
Regards
this tool never fails to disappoint
I have no calculation groups so far on my model and somehow all ma subtitles disappeared from my report, while they were all set to a field value coming from a measure I have.
This is quite new for me too (beginning of the week maybe)
Thanks @OwenAuger for your quick reply, this would make sense so I'll try replacing my implict measures.
