Conditional Formatting matrix visual based on results of other columns

Hello - I have created a matrix that shows the percentage of pay increase broken down by department, employee title on rows and

Performance rating and gender on columns

What I want to do is highlight the Grocery Clerk Male So-So 15% value as it is higher than the value given for Awesome.

another example is Clothing clerk Female Bad  14% value as it is higher than the So-So value.

See mock-up

Department  Awesome So-So Bad
   MaleFemale MaleFemale MaleFemale
Grocery  16%15% 17%12% 5%3%
 Manager 20%15% 18%12% 5%2%
 Clerk 12%15% 15%12% 4%3%
Clothing  28%25% 27%12% 9%10%
 Manager 30%10% 31%11% 6%7%
 Clerk 25%40% 22%13% 12%14%

I know I need to write a dax formula - but I have been unsuccessful so far.

Thanks for any help

@Anonymous ,

I believe I have worked out a way to solve your question.

Please see attached pbix file.

First, created a Ranking Column, then created a Flag to capture the "wrong" increases.

This flag is then used in the Conditional Formatting of the Matrix.

Hoping this gets you going.

Thank you so much.  I just had to create a summary table first and then add in your 2 calculated columns.  Genius 🙂  Rankx didn't even occur to me.

@Anonymous ,

So glad that you were able to follow the logic.   Appreciate the feedback!

I am sorry Polly, I don't understand your question.  metadata??? what is that?

and yes that is a matrix table - what I want is to figure out a way to do conditional formatting based on the logic I discussed.  So what I want to calculate is the color for the formatting.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I was a little confused. Is that what metadata is? This seems in a matrix table. And what do you want to calculate and how to get the result? Could you please provide more details?
