Comparing data when using slicers

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to Power BI. I've created some visuals with lots of metrics displayed in cards and I've added a number of filters to allow people to see how those metrics change depending on which segment of the overall audience they are interested in. To make the data more meaningful, for each card, I want to be able to show whether the filtered data is higher or lower than the whole population by applying some conditional formatting.

Anyone tried to do this before?

Is there a better visualisation for doing this than the cards?

Any guidance much appreciated

Andy

Hi @ANDYPICKFORD ,

According to your description, I create a sample below.

For example we want to compare the average sales of the types we selected in slicer and the average sales of all types, here's my solution, create a measure.

AVG =
AVERAGE ( 'Table'[Sales] )
Color =
IF ( [AVG] >= CALCULATE ( [AVG], ALL ( 'Table' ) ), "red", "blue" )

Then in card visualizations formatting>Effects>Backgroud, click the button "fx"

Select color measure in the dialog.

Result:

I attach my sample below for your reference.
