Comparing 2 subsets of tables

Hello Everyone,

I have 2 tables of data. 1 is the orders that have been placed and 2nd is a complete list of all the bill of materials we need to purchase for every parent tool. Below is a very simplified version of my data. In reality, there are hundreds of parent tools that can be purchased multiple times(along with all of their child parts) and BOMs can have up to 50 children.

My goal is to determine 3 things:

1. Know when something wasnt purchased from the bill of materials (example Child3 wasnt purchased in above data)

2. Know when too many of the items that are in the bill of materials are purchased (example Child4 purchased too many in data above)

3. Know when something has been purchased that was not in the bill of materials (example a Child5 was purchased but it is not in the bill of materials)

I would like to show graphically all the count of the problems based on the above criteria, then drill down into a list of the specific problems.

I dont have any idea of where to start. If anyone can point me to some information or a youtube video with something similar I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Not sure your end goal in the visualization terms.

Step 1: I can think of this link, where you see the idea to begin with and then make it to your end goal in visualization terms.

https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Data-Stories-Gallery/Visualizing-Merge-Join-Types-in-Power...

Similar to the link, you can add a filter at the top of your needs and on select show the visualization and its details.

Step 2: Comparing the data and going down the details, I can think of below links

https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Data-Stories-Gallery/PowerBI-Data-Comparison-Tool/m-p/6583...

https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Data-Stories-Gallery/Comparative-Analysis-of-Selected-Scho...

There might be hundreds of ways, these are the two links I thought when I saw your post.

Hope this gives a head start.

If this is not what you want, draw a mockup and post so that we can help ! TIA
