Hello experts,
In my organisation we currently utilize Excel for some key reports. I am currently pushing my organization towrads adopting Power BI premium and Power BI server for the reporting purpose.
There is one key thing that came into discussion and I am trying to understand if that could be possible to build in any of the Power Bi views. Following is an example of the Pivot Table that currently utilized by different users as to their advantage. The biggest advantage for the user of this pivot table is they are able to drag and drop a filter to the row and do vice versa. Also if the want to change the ordering of the row they can do that as well.
Original
Modified filters, rows
I was wondering if I build this view in Power BI and publish it on the PBI server, is there any way I can extend the same facility as excel does to the users of that newly built PBi report? This report can be easily built in Matrix viz and I my assumption is when published it would not offer the same utilities to my users? This is a report used by muiltple stakeholders and they would like to organize the view as per their advantage.
I know this can't be done in Tableau as we curently utilize Tableau for other reports except this and this key report exists in excel. If this can be achieved I can get rid of both Tableau and excel at the same time.
Thanking you in advance.
Hi @smpa01 ,
For the 1st request, we can use visual level filter to work on it.
For the 2rd one, Did you mean uploding excel model to Power bi service directly? Pleaser refer to the online document.
@ v-frfei-msft thanks for getting back to me. I did not mean uploading the excel document to PBI service.
My question is there any way I can build a view (matrix viz) in Power BI service where the users (while accessing the view on the server and not the workbook) have the facility to drop/loose any columns from filter to row and vice versa including changing the order of the row to their advantage (like anyone can normally do with an excel pivot table)?
