Combining data from Multiple Datasets

I have multiple Datasets on a workspace that have scheduled refreshes.  

From the desktop the Get Data option is greyed out Once I make the initial query to ONE dataset. 

When I download the dataset and then try get data from another dataset on the same workspace I get the following message

"The connect live option is disabled for this file becuase it already contains data from another data source." 

So there is no way to access data from multiple datasets that are on same workspace and have scheduled refreshes and also use a common gateway connection either online or from desktop?
