Hi -
I am pretty new to power BI so what I am asking might be obvious. But I can't find a solution. I have found similar questions but not extact.
I have CSV files that are being pulled out and fed into Power BI
The tables in the CSV looks like this
| Date | Class | Name | Metric | Value |
| 2/10/21 | standard | tester | count | 100 |
| 2/10/21 | standard | tester | bytes | 222 |
| 2/10/21 | standard | tester | size | 333 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | tester | count | 444 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | tester | bytes | 555 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | tester | size | 666 |
| 2/10/21 | standard | smile | count | 1100 |
| 2/10/21 | standard | smile | bytes | 2222 |
| 2/10/21 | standard | smile | size | 3333 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | smile | count | 4444 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | smile | bytes | 5555 |
| 2/10/21 | standard_AA | smile | size | 5666 |
What I would like this to look like is this
| Date | Name | standard-byte | standard-count | standard-size | standard_AA-byte | standard_AA-count | standard_AA-size | |
| 2/10/21 | tester | 100 | 222 | 333 | 444 | 555 | 666 | |
| 2/10/21 | smile | 1100 | 2222 | 3333 | 4444 | 5555 | 6666 |
More or less, using class, metric, value in different rows and create columns based on a matching date and name.
Would like these columns generated based on the data and not hard coded if possible.
Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
In Power Query, select the Class and Metric columns (use ctrl click to select both).
Right-click the column heading, choose Merge Columns. Give it a name.
Select the new column and click Pivot from the Transform menu. Put Values in the Value section

Thank you...that is what I needed!
