How do I get different colors for different years when selected? For example if they select March and years 2022 and 2023 how do I get the chart to reflect one color for 2022 and a different color for 2023?

You can write dax expression to check current value and return different color codes to use in conditional formatting:

A screenshot of what you're trying to accomplish would help in figuring out what solution would work best for you. However, a general fix to a situation like this is to put "year" in a legend field so each year will automatically be assigned a different color on the graph.
