Collapse bars to subset instead of showing the subset as part of the total

Hi,

I have a customer list and next to it a column chart with the values ​​per year.
When I select a customer in the customer list, the partial quantity is highlighted in the chart as a proportion of the total quantity for each year. But I want only the subset to be visible. Can this be adjusted somehow?

Yes, you can achieve this in Power BI by adjusting how selections filter the data in your visuals. Here’s a simple way to make it happen:

1. Use “Edit Interactions”:
- Select the Customer List visual.
- Go to the Format tab and select Edit Interactions.
- On the column chart, instead of having the highlighted effect, click the filter icon to make the selection act as a filter instead. This way, when you select a customer, only that customer's data will be shown in the chart for each year, instead of showing the entire set with just a portion highlighted.

2. Alternative: Visual-Level Filter:
- If you want the chart to always show only the selected customer, go to the Filters pane for your chart.
- Add Customer as a Visual-level Filter, and set it to filter based on your selection. This method works well if you’re creating a report that should focus exclusively on individual customers.

Now, when you select a customer in the list, the chart should update to display only that customer’s data without highlighting other parts of the total quantity.
