Hi all,
I am trying to find a way to check a standardised naming convention.
We use a standard file naming format of:
| ??????-????-???-???-??-??-?-???? |
Project-Code-Originator-Volume-Level-Type-Discipline-Number
I would like to check a whole column of file names against the above standard.
I really have no idea where to start with this - I already have checks that check each individual section between delimiters against a picklist (ie. Originator code exists in list, Volume code exists in list etc.) but I'm not sure where to start with checking the whole file name.
I know that we cannot use 'wildcards' such as ?? or * in PowerBI or PowerQuery so I'm a little stumped as the best way to achieve this.
Any help much appreciated!
@Franny_Spanny Is using DAX an option? Another option would be to add a Python or R step to the query and use regex.
@Greg_Deckler absolutely okay for DAX. Python is possible.
R not an option due to this being work related and unfortunately unable to get R installed due to lots of red tape!
Hey @Greg_Deckler, not sure if you saw my whole reply as it was a later edit, so just wanted to tag again just in case 🙂
