Hi all,
I recently change the sources of my file from a local excel workbook to a sharepoint folder from our oragnization site. However, after doing this, it keeps returning this error:
Solved! Go to Solution.
okay, if you have used sharepoint folder as a connector then try changing to web connector. First clear cache memory. Then go to sharepoint and click 3 dots and select details. A pane will open in the right side and copy path. Paste in to the url field of web connector. See image below:
Hope this helps!!
Remember, special charecter type in file some times may cause error.
Please verify if the excel file is protected with a password. If that is not case then please verify the sensitivity label of the excel file. If it is an encrypted sensitivity lable then please change it to an unencrypted label.
Chris webb has documented these two possible reasons: https://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/2024/06/16/the-dataformat-error-file-contains-corrupted-data-error-in-p...

Hi @tharunkumarRTK thanks for the reply but same with shafiz:
1. my documents are not corrupted i can open it in sharepoint
2. it is not password protected
3. there's no sensitivity label, anyway im using power bi query
right now its still returning the same error 😞
1. Is your excel file connected any other file through power query in excel? if yes what is the sensitivity labels of those files?
2. Have you signed into your power bi desktop?

Yes it is only connected to excel from sharepoint
You have connected to an excel from Power BI desktop, lets assume that file name as DataSample.xlsx.
Open DataSample.xlsx, click on the Data tab and click on 'Queries and connections' there you will be able to identify if this file is connected to any other file. Incase if it is connected to any other file, just verufy the senstivity labels of those files.

Hi @pickup18 Considering you have used Sharepoint Folder Connector. Please check you have correct data types. Some times special charecter may cause this error.
Try reading this blog for other scenarios:
