Change text of value field header in matrix table

Hi,

Say I have a camel hump field name "ActualsIncludingAdjustments" and then create a matrix table and put this in the values field, how can I make the column heading user friendly? (i.e. I need to change "ActualsIncludingAdjustments" to "Actuals").

It can be done in Excel pivot tables, but is there an option to do this in Power BI?

Thanks,

CM

Hi @CloudMonkey,

The functionality of Power BI is different to Excel in this regard.

However there is nothing to stop you creating a measure called Actuals and setting it to the same as ActualsIncludingAdjustments. eg.

Actuals = [AcutualsIncludingAdjustments]

and then dragging this field to your visual.  It's not perfect but better than having super wide columns. 🙂

Thanks Phil. Is there any reason why a measure would be better than a calculated field? Is it to keep the database cleaner?

Ahh but you can only use a name for a measure once in the whole of Power BI (in any table). So I can't use the column heading "Act" (for actuals) more than once in the whole of Power BI which is too limiting. The only other solution I can think of is putting a text box on top of the column heading with the name that I want (very time consuming). Does anyone have any other ideas?
