Hey all,
I've create a report for management which includes quite a lot of KPIs being displayed (meaning they have to be fairly small), as a result I can't afford to have the date axis set to categorical, as it would mean needing to scroll to see all of the dates on the x axis.
So, because it is set to continuous and is small, you can see the label every quarter, as expected (see below):
The issue is, management look at that and instantly feel as though the data only goes upto Jan 2024, which is not true, so they want it to display maybe the earliest and most recent date (e.g., Mar 2023 and Mar 2024 in this case), but I can't see a way to do that? I tried creating a separate column which only shows the month if it is the current month, but then it sums the rest of the data together so that it only has data for (blank) and data for Mar. Essentially, the ideal end result would be like this:
Is this possible? It will need to update each month.
I've hidden the other axis and data labels for data protection, I can't attach a file but as it's just a standard graph and not related to any specific DAX hopefully that's ok.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @Izzii0xx ,
According to your description, the large and dense amount of data causes the power bi discount chart to produce an indentation above, but you want to show the start and end dates. This is a setting in pwoer bi for the aesthetics of the chart.
You can go to Format->X-axis->Type and choose show as categorical

Final output
Use raw data rather than date hierarchies

In your exmple, it shows all dates. I only want the first and last. I can't use all dates (as I mentioned why I can't use categorical) because the graph is too small.
