Can't reset slicer header background to transparent

When you create a new slicer the header background is transparent as indicated by the white square with the red stripe through it in the color picker. Once you have chosen any color it doesn't seem possible to reset back to the transparent option again.

This also applies in other places such as the values background.

There is a transparency slider for the overall slicer background in Effects but not for Header or Values.

I'm wanting to achieve the following:

  • overall slicer background: transparent
  • slicer header background: transparent
  • slicer values background: white

I've tried to enter RGB transparency codes in the advanced color picker but that is limited to 6 hex digits.

Am I missing something obvious?

Hey @Anonymous
You will find the Reset to Default option there
by clicking on that you will get the transparent color back
I tried doing the same

After resetting it to default

Hi,
Could you please help me with related issue?
I have Values' background white and I cannot reset it or set it to be transparent.
I want to keep in dark blue.
Any ideas?

Hi!

There is another workaround for this case using conditional formatting. You can create a measure with the string value "#FFFFFF00", which is the hex code for transparent in PBI.

Then you can select conditional formatting (fx) next to the color selection and choose the "Transparent" measure as field value.

This should work in your case, but unfortunately not every color selection has a conditional formatting option, so its not generally applicable.

Thanks, I had been hoping for a way to just reset the header background color but this reset of all settings seems the best I can hope for.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I've tested it myself. There's no way to go back to a transparent header background once you've changed it to another color other than if you can still undo it. As a workaround, I'd insert another slicer visual and use format painter from the new to the old visual

Thanks for this suggestion. I've marked the other reply as the solution as it is the best fit for the question as I asked it but I really like this format painting workaround and intend to use it.
