A user created a 6-MB PBIX file, and I am unable to open it in Desktop on my 8 GB laptop. It gets me over 90% memory usage, then slows to a crawl. Is there anyway that I can load this file just using my laptop? Is there some way to tell Desktop not to load the data, or some way to manually modify the file to make it just open? I will take it to a larger machine and export it or save it as pbit to get around this, but I am looking for a more direct method.
Update - fixed size of laptop memory to GB.
I found a 14-GB server and was able to easily open the file.
You may try the option File > Options and settings > Options > Data Load.
Hi, Sam,
Thanks for your reply. What are you suggesting that I do with the Data Cache option? When I open Desktop with no file, in Global Data Load, I see Data Cache Max allowed (MB) is 4096.
Thanks!
Tom
