Can't find my custom connector in GET DATA

Hi,

I'm trying to follow the instructions from Kasperonbi (Building the Power BI Strava data connector - Kasper On BI) to connect to Strava. Everything seems fine, except for finding my Custom Connector when selecting "Get Data" in Power BI Desktop.

I think my issue is that I can't find the "/Documents/Microsoft Power BI Desktop/" folder.  I have tried creating such a folder both locally on my C drive and on my One drive location.

Wondering if my Power BI files are stored somewhere else and that might be causing the issue?

Yes, I have checked off for Data Extensions in PBI, allowing any extension.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks!

Looks like you are unable to locate your Documents folder. I can understand it can be frustrating.
You can follow these steps to re store-

1. Right-click on the Start button and select “File Explorer.”

2. In the sidebar, find and right-click on “Documents” and click on “Properties.”

3. Go to the Location tab, click “Move,” and choose the “C:\Users\%username%” folder.

4. Once you have selected this location, click on the “Select Folder” button.
Or
Try to lower the security level for extensions in Power BI Desktop to enable loading unsigned/uncertified connectors.

  1. Go to File | Options and settings | Options
  2. Go the Security tab
  3. Under Data Extensions, select Allow any extension to load without warning or validation
  4. Restart Power BI Desktop

Hope this helps!

I keep looking for the right answer. For some reason I can't locate my 'My Documents' folder. I've tried creating a new folder called that, but it says I can't since it already exists. Might be a company restriction I don't know about..

Hi @pbi_taken ,

I think that may be a wrong folder. You can use “[My Documents]\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors” as is described here:
https://github.com/Microsoft/DataConnectors
Hope this helps!

where did you install the .mez file to?

I've placed the connector files here C:\Users\UserName\Documents along with the Power BI Desktop folder. Then I've copied the .mez file to a subfolder in Microsoft Power BI Desktop folder called Custom Connectors.
