Can not publish Power bi report to service portal

Hi @rkCam ,

 

Here are a couple of reasons that this might now work:

  • If you first publish a report using Import mode, you won't be able to overwrite the report and the semantic model with a DirectQuery or Live Connect based report. This will not work.
  • If you first publish a report using a live connection, then change the storage mode or the target semantic model in Power BI Desktop, you won't be able to overwrite the report when you republish.

 

I also understand that if you upload PBIX files to the Power BI Service from SharePoint,  that report can no longer be published from the desktop. 

 

Or, you could be having a network problem - is somebody else able to publish the report?  Is your version of the Power BI desktop new enough to be compatible with the Service?
