Can I reduce the cpu usage of datasource by using Dual storage mode instead of DirectQuery?

Can I reduce the cpu usage of datasource by using Dual storage mode instead of DirectQuery?

Now, I'm using the Azure SQL Database by DirectQuery,

and the new 'Storage Mode' feature seems to nice, exciting for analyzing 1 Trillion rows with clicky, clicky, drag,

Therefore, I want to know, Do the dual storage mode reduce the cpu usage of DirectQuery connected datasource rather than DirectQuery storage mode.

Hey,

this is an interesting question.

Please be aware that, my answer is based just on guesswork, my current experience with the now available storage modes is limited 🙂

My simple answer: Yes, I would think so!

I guess you are aware that it takes a little bit more than just changing from direct query to impor to achive this "clicky, clicky, draggy, droppy" experience to analyze 1 Trillion of rows. This video explains how to build this infrastructure
