Hi all
I am trying to do something very simple with calculation groups, but I can't figure out why it isn't working. So I have a calculation group with calculation item Test. The logic is as follows
Test = SELECTEDMEASURE() + 1000
I have a measure TestCalcGroup = Calculate(1 , 'Calculation group'[Calculation group column]= 'Test')
I have a KPI card on the report page where I have selected the TestCalcGroup Measure. I expect that it would return 1001. But it only returns 1.
The only time it returns 1001 is if I have the 'Calculation group'[Calculation group column] on the report page as either slicer or filter. Unfortunately, the use case I am attempting to address does not permit the use of this.
I went through multiple videos and documentation and according to those what I have should Ideally work, but it doesn't.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Monisha

Hi @Anonymous
Calculation items only have effect when applied to measure references, not arbitrary expressions.
See this SQLBI article for a good discussion of this.
So if you instead created a measure
One = 1
then this version of TestCalcGroup which applies the calculation item Test to the measure [One] would return 1001:
TestCalcGroup =
CALCULATE (
[One],
'Calculation group'[Calculation group column]= 'Test'
)
Does this help in your particular case?
