Calculating Same Period Last Year

Hello All,

I could use some help calculating Sales from last year during the current time frame (Jan 01 - Jan 12). SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR doesn't work the way I would think it should. Below are two links that I've tried and I'm still not getting the results I would expect.

Thanks!

So I found a solution that worked for me. I had to create to create a column in my Date table that is a True/False if the current year dates are the same period as last year. I then add that column as a filter on a visual and then my Same Period LY Sales measure shows the correct amount.

Same Period LY Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(SalesTable[TotalSales]), SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR(DateTable[Date]))

IsSamePeriodLY = IF(DateTable[Date] >= DATE(YEAR(TODAY()), 1, 1), 1 &&

                                                                         IF(DateTable[Date] <= TODAY()-1, 1, 0))
